Compost Educator

Compost Educator

Dynamic and motivated individual sought to provide outreach and education about the benefits of composting to residents in Geneva’s 5th and 6th wards. BluePrint Geneva, Inc. has received a grant to begin a compost education program in combination with Growing Cycle, LLC which will provide weekly compost pickup in wards 5 and 6 free of charge for one year.

Diverting food and other biodegradable waste from the trash can into the compost is a great way to help reduce the load at the landfills while creating rich soil that can be used for backyard gardening. The ideal candidate will be excited to spread the word about this environmentally sustainable practice and will create educational materials for distribution in homes and businesses.

Candidates living in wards 5 or 6 are preferred, Spanish-language skills are a plus. The ability to engage and motivate people is a must! Prior composting experience is not required, but a desire to help the community and promote environmental justice is. Familiarity with a computer and ability to use email is expected.
